ChatGPT Watermark Remover
Paste ChatGPT output below to detect and remove hidden watermark characters — zero-width spaces, word joiners, and invisible unicode markers that can survive a copy-paste into Word, Google Docs or a CMS. Nothing is uploaded; the check runs on your own device.
Statistics appear here once you paste some text.
Does ChatGPT watermark its text?
OpenAI has publicly confirmed it built a text-watermarking system but has not confirmed shipping it in ChatGPT. Separately from any official scheme, LLM output routinely carries unintentional fingerprints: non-breaking spaces, narrow no-break spaces, curly quotes, and the occasional zero-width joiner picked up from training data or the web UI's rendering layer. Those are what this tool finds.
How to remove the ChatGPT watermark from text
Paste your text into the box, read the statistics panel to see exactly which characters were found and how many of each, then hit Copy. The Visualize tab labels every invisible character inline so you can see where they sit before you clean anything — useful if you need to prove to yourself the text was modified.
How to see the ChatGPT watermark in Word or Google Docs
Neither app shows zero-width characters by default. In Word, Ctrl+Shift+8 (⌘+8 on Mac) reveals formatting marks but still misses U+200B. The reliable route is to paste the text here and open the Analyze tab, which lists every non-ASCII code point with its exact unicode name and count.
Frequently asked questions
+ − Is the ChatGPT watermark remover free?
Yes. It is completely free, has no sign-up, no character limit and no watermarking of its own. All processing happens in your browser using JavaScript.
+ − Does my text get uploaded to a server?
No. There is no backend. The cleaning runs client-side in your browser, so your text never leaves your device — you can disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
+ − Will removing invisible characters break my text?
No. Only zero-width and formatting characters are deleted. Exotic spaces such as the non-breaking space are converted to a normal space so words never run together, and every visible character is preserved exactly.
